Vollenweider, Jürg

Jürg Vollenweider joined the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS) as a research assistant and PhD student in November 2008.
He studied Political Science, Philosophy and Economic History at the University of Zurich and received an M.A. in Political Science in October 2008. His masters thesis analyzed the World Bank's incentives and real efforts to further stakeholder partizipation in its development programs.
His main research interests are Causal Inference and Political Economy.

I. Work in Progress

Jürg Vollenweider is currently working on his PhD thesis. He investigates 'The Effectiveness of International Environmental Regimes', applying causal inference techniques to measure the causal effect of regime membership on the pollution behavior of states. Building on a new measure for regime effectiveness, he will furthermore study the determinants of variation in regime effectiveness, thereby focusing on treaty design features.
