As part of the Lecture series on energy, environment and sustainability at the University of Hagen, Professor Bernauer answers the question: "Who is buying electric cars and why - and what does policy have to do with it?" The live recording of the lecture (only in German) is now available to watch.  

Dennis Kolcava, Lukas Rudolph and Thomas Bernauer have been studying citizen support for environmental policy-making in the context of cooperation between the government, firms and civil society. They found that policies receive greater public support when decision-making is inclusive, sometimes even regardless of the effectiveness of the policy. Read their paper here.  

Our group is extremely proud that Jan Freihardt, one of our PhD candidates, has recently published a book. His book is titled 'Draußen ist es anders' and is in the German language. In it, he presents approaches and concrete examples of Science of the Future. We encourage you to take a look!

Lukas Fesenfeld, Yixian Sun, Michael Wicki and Thomas Bernauer have collaborated to understand strategic issue framing, which is known to be an effective communication strategy to alter public opinion and citizens’ policy support. Access their research paper here.
